As I have said many times, you just never know what you will see around our campus. For the last three days we have had a pair of Buffleheads on our pond—YES BUFFLEHEADS. They have evolved their small size to fit the nesting cavity of a woodpecker or the Northern Flicker. Due to their small size, they are highly active. Groups are limited to small numbers.
There are also two mallards that which are quite beautiful but to see the Buffleheads on our pond is quite unusual. I know, I know, I have said it before but it’s just nicer here!
