Friends Fellowship Community Names New President and CEO

Friends Fellowship Community has named Christopher (Chris) Fields as its next President and CEO.  His selection comes after a nine-month nationwide search. Fields replaces Jeffrey Baxter, who is set to retire January 31, 2020.

Fields emerged from a highly competitive pool of candidates. From a semifinalist pool of five, he was one of two individuals invited to Friends Fellowship to meet with resident groups, department managers, senior leadership and a search team consisting of residents and members of the Board of Trustees.

Prior to this role, Fields served as the Executive Director of Bethany Pointe Health Campus, located in Anderson, Indiana offering a continuum of care including independent living villas, a residential memory care facility, assisted living units and a health care center. Bethany Pointe is part of Trilogy Health Care Services, which Chris Fields originally joined in 2006. During his tenure with Trilogy Health Services, Fields operated six campuses, including one opening and one acquisition.

“Chris has a wide range of health care experience, all of which demonstrate his leadership ability, creativity, and innovation. Those qualities, plus his deep commitment to East Central Indiana were highly persuasive in the Board’s deliberation,” according to Jay Marshall, chairman of the Friends Fellowship Community Board of Trustees. “We believe he is an outstanding choice to continue Friends Fellowship’s tradition of excellence while leading us forward into our next chapter.”

Founded over 50 years ago and located in Richmond, Indiana, Friends Fellowship Community, Inc. is a not-for-profit provider of aging services. A continuing care retirement community that serves over 300 seniors, its continuum includes independent living, assisted living, comprehensive care facility (all private pay), and dementia care. A Quaker-founded organization, Friends Fellowship commits to operate with integrity, compassion, and care as it creates an atmosphere that promotes independence, dignity and security for its residents. Maintaining this commitment was exceedingly important to the community as it faced this leadership transition.

“It is my pleasure to serve Friends Fellowship Community and the Richmond community. I am eager to continue the mission of the organization with an eye toward the customer and employee experience, organizational stewardship, and foundational growth,” says Fields.

Fields officially joined the organization on January 13 and looks forward to becoming an integral part of the Richmond community.
