You just never know what you will see on our campus! I was leaving work a couple of days ago and something “special” caught my eye around the pond. Hundreds of geese were lounging in the water and around the edge, BUT there were two special looking geese.
I sent this picture to my birding girlfriends and low and behold we have two “Adult Blue Morph Snow geese” in our midst. The snow goose can be one of the noisiest species of waterfowl. The high-pitched kowk or kow-luk can be quite loud. They like to travel in flocks from a couple dozen to thousands. They forage together digging up roots and tubers from fields and marshes.
Have I said before, it’s just nicer here? The snow geese sure think so!
