On January 24th, Friends Fellowship Community proudly partnered with the American Red Cross to host a life-saving blood drive.

After many years, we were thrilled to host again for this vital cause. Thanks to the generosity of 21 donors, we collected 22 units of blood, potentially saving 72 lives. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the community members, including two of our dedicated employees and one resident, who stepped up to donate. Impressively, three donors were giving blood for the first time.

Kendra Duty, our Life Enhancement Director, shared her inspiring experience: “I have only donated blood one time about 15 years ago with my mom. Once I found out about the blood drive at FFC and how it impacts our community, I wanted to help. Fortunately, there was one available appointment left, and to my surprise, I discovered my mom was also donating on the day of the blood drive! Everything was well organized and the staff was very generous and checked on people who were donating. It was amazing to see the mixture of community members and residents who came to donate blood. The reason I decided to donate was to help others in need and contribute to our community.”

We are deeply honored to have facilitated this opportunity and are already planning a summer drive to welcome even more donors. The American Red Cross plays a crucial role in disaster relief, supplying 40% of the nation’s blood, teaching life-saving skills, distributing international humanitarian aid, and supporting veterans and military families. Join us on Friday, July 18th in making a difference at our summer blood drive!
